The Book of Ron

Why members of the Exclusive Brethren should not send emails:

because The Exclusive Brethren practice separation from evil, recognising this as God's principle of unity. They shun the conduits of evil communications: television, the radio, and the Internet. Their charter is 2 Timothy 2:19 "The Lord knows those that are his; and, Let every one who names the name of the Lord withdraw from iniquity."

and Their homes and vehicles are free of the pipelines of media filth: television, radio, and the Internet, in accordance with their baptism and commitment to separation from the world.

and people find out.

Interestingly, Mr Ron Hickmott's email to Don and John (which is reproduced in Nicky Hager's book) was sent from Tuatara Flooring at tuataraflooring@xtra.co.nz. A search of the Companies Register shows that no such company exists or has existed. Did Mr Hickmott invent the company? If he did, would that not make him guilty, not only of using the pipelines of media filth but of bearing false witness?

Whilst on the matter, you might notice that I have taken quotes from the Exclusives' own website, although you might also notice that the site refers to them in the third person, as if it were written by someone else. Besides, being guilty of using the conduits of evil communications this site also commits the sin of having really annoying rollover sounds.

Apparently, the Exclusives also identify the internet with another passage of Scripture: “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh ...” Ephesians 2:2-3. AV.

Does this mean that the Ephesians had access to wireless broadband and internet porn?

P.S: there is another Exclusive Brethren website

There is nothing particularly sinister in itself of a business not being registered at the Companies Office. In this case, it could be a (quite legitimate) business, e.g. "Wacko Cultists Limited trading as Tuatara Flooring".

This, however, does not exonerate the Exclusive Brethren, or the recipients of their emails, of duplicity in any other matter. And the lack of a "Tuatara Flooring" (or anything similar including the word "Tuatara") on www.whitepages.co.nz is slightly more problematic.

You are right: it is not in itself sinister, but there is a bit more to this story that I shall write soon.

I loved the references to James Taylor Jnr, the alcoholic satyromaniac who ran the EBs until that incident with the naked young woman in Edinburgh c1970. Well done, that person.

Sustainable rimu flooring, eg?

So there's the link between Hager's Timberlands book and this one, and the origins of the odd EB animus against the Greens.

White Pages will show nothing whatsoever about a connection if the subscriber has asked Telecom Directories, actually trading under the Yellow Pages brand, not to print the name and address and to make the listing confidential.

Is this the email that only had John Key's name and not an actual email address

i.e. no proof it was ever sent to John Key.
