Notes towards a definition of culture

I have been writing my doctoral annual report, a duty imposed on me by the Graduate Centre. Question 2 of the report asks:
"Reflecting on the goals listed in your previous annual report or provisional year report, were any goals/tasks not achieved? If so, why?"

My reply:
I would prefer not to reflect on the goals listed in my last report. I have given them no thought since writing that report and have no intention even of finding out what they were. I invented them simply to keep the Graduate Centre happy, as I do every year. I came to this university to make a substantial contribution to scholarship. If I had wanted to work by goals I would have become a sales representative.

Perhaps I should apply for the job at Text Publishing.
