That would be limited to the size of the conventional explosive used. Radiological exposure could be treated with iodine tablets and wash downs. The problem comes from cleaning up the bomb site to acceptable levels. Current US regulations require a site to be cleaned to the point that an inhabitant would only have a 1% higher risk of cancer over an entire life time. This standard would be impossible to achieve after a dirty bomb attack. However, it is uncertain that a terrorist group would wish to impose this kind of damage, they'd probably prefer something with more immediate consequences.David Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17689662837667313234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-86897789286726649342008-07-01T11:04:00.000+12:002008-07-01T11:04:00.000+12:00But surely they've still got the nuclear materials...But surely they've still got the nuclear materials to make bombs?Lewis Holdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14732618881212335191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-52429406493576370072008-06-30T22:00:00.000+12:002008-06-30T22:00:00.000+12:00As a resident Nork watcher ...Oh, sorry: I thought...As a resident Nork watcher ...

Oh, sorry: I thought you were talking about something else altogether there ...

As you were then.Russell Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06272870489640380269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-50689204093662361772008-06-29T16:06:00.000+12:002008-06-29T16:06:00.000+12:00As a resident Nork watcher the reason that the Nor...As a resident Nork watcher the reason that the Norks have nuclear weapons is a simple one, money.

If they say they have some they can extort aid.Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05680274679737065263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-91105860310413182942008-06-29T11:37:00.000+12:002008-06-29T11:37:00.000+12:00Haha,'Pull yourself together man, this is nuclear ...Haha,

'Pull yourself together man, this is nuclear physics, not rocket science!'

- possible simpsons quote, not sure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-80497578043626806342008-06-29T10:05:00.000+12:002008-06-29T10:05:00.000+12:00Um... because cooling towers are a necessary means...Um... because cooling towers are a necessary means of preventing both geothermal and nuclear power stations from blowing up. Thus, removing the cooling tower from a nuclear power station means that the reactor is being shut down, which means it won't be producing any more of those liver-boiling byproducts which go into nuclear weapons.

It's not rocket science.

Oh, wait...Samuelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12633616551506978330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-72049606622078214182008-06-28T11:44:00.000+12:002008-06-28T11:44:00.000+12:00What I don't understand is why destroying a power ...What I don't understand is why destroying a power station's cooling tower counts as nuclear disarmament.
I mean, there is a geothermal plant in NZ with a cooling tower.Lewis Holdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14732618881212335191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36994129.post-8582461965513190532008-06-28T10:43:00.000+12:002008-06-28T10:43:00.000+12:00Nice. Cue bombing into Stone Age, shock and awe, full force, etc. Kim Jong Il did not get where he is through merit, but he hasn't stayed there through being stupid either.Samuelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12633616551506978330noreply@blogger.com
