How to deal with Jehovah's Witnesses

Ryan threw me this link, which apparently is not good enough for his blog. It amused me. I am easily pleased.

Hey Paul it is much more fun to bait JWs. About a year or so ago two came to my door, fortunately I had some time to kill... They were a young guy and an old guy. Young guy does all the talking, I tell them I am atheist and the fool says 'why is that then?' Cue all the highly reasoned, scientific evidence based arguments against the existence of their, or any deity (the ones you find boring). Being a biological scientist who knows his evolution this was great fun. I pointed out that if we were created in god's image (the JWs take this literally) then I want a word about the shoddy design, that we are not fully bipedal yet (all those bad backs), our retinas are back to front whereas those in the cephalopods are not, they don't have blind spots because of it, etc, etc. I kept them for some time, I think they were grateful to get away from me, the older one looked concerned at all the doubt I was trying ever so hard to insert into the young guy's mind...

JWs aren't just for xmas, they are for playing with...

Try the Ethel Chop solution. This sweet octogenarian practices domestic nudism and has a prolapsed uterus, so when she greets door to door saleschristians, they are shocked, as are relatives and teenagers.

It is not really so complicated as many make it out to be to deal successfully with Jehovah’s Witnesses. It’s actually rather simple. Jehovah’s will always talk to you about a thousand and one really irrelevant side issues, if you allow them to. Don’t get sidetracked! You always have to bring them back to the center. And the center is Christ! They do not believe in the Trinity - they do not believe that Christ is divine and shares that divinity with the Father - much like a king and his son, a prince, who is not the same person but who bóth have royal blood. They believe that He is a created being, much like an arch-angel. They “know” Jehovah, they “know” the Bible, but they do nót know Christ - lead them to Christ! They are nót born again. Sidestep and skip the other issues. They believe that when they die they will one day be in God’s kingdom on earth because they follow His commandments, that is, because of their works really and not because of Christ’s atoning work on the cross only. They do not understand the heart of the Gospel - Christ and His sacrifice on the cross for them. Christianity is about Jésus, the New Testament is about Jésus, the Church is about Jésus - and not about Jehovah! To be a Christian is to have a personal relationship with the living Christ. It is to open your heart to Christ and accept and receive Him as your Lord and Savior. They do not believe that Christ can live in them, because then he has to be divine - in order to live in all His followers at the same time. They are Jehovah’s but not really Christians! They are not bad people - they are very religious, devoted, have good morals, but do not know Christ as their Savior. Don’t complicate the issue and get caught up in irrelevancies. Love them, keep to the heart of the issue and you will succeed!
