The  Beatles, a popular music combo of  the 1960s, have been forgiven for their 'dissolute' lives by L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper.

You are being too kind, Paul: that should read "deceitful child-abusers with enormous power still attempting to cover-up their heinous crimes and not admitting any guilt or complicity for the covering-up, forgive " etc.

I know, I am a softy. What is becoming more apparent day by day is that this abuse is institutional, that the Church clearly expected a substantial proportion of its priest to be abusers. I suppose it is hardly surprising, given that non-sexual forms of child abuse -such as beating - were practiced officially.
